| This is a Kit of Parts
? I bought off of Ebay. At the modest cost of £50 I
thought this a good buy. As you see it includes frames,
buffer beams and machined wheels. I have to say that what
has been done prior to my ownership is not particularly
good but this fits in nicely with my own ability and i'm
sure the work I do won't be any better. Described on Ebay as parts for a Speedy i've since discovered that these are actually for Speedy's close relation the Pansy. Having said that the wheels may be Speedy but what the hell. I have nowhere near the ability to build a boiler and to buy one is way out of my league. So, at the risk of offending the purists amounst you I intend to put, heavon forbid, an electric motor in it. This will be a semi-temporary solution to a working steam loco and will at least get the thing running. I also have a hankering to build it as a saddle tank, Austerity style, with connecting rods but no outside cylinders. This is why i'm experimenting on No 1 with smoke generators, sound etc. I expect progress to be slow but it will hopefully get the guys at the club off my back because they keep asking when i'm going to venture into that 'orrible, dirty, smelly world of steam. Perhaps if I use some lighting effects in a dummy fire box I can fool them for at least a moment or two............... |
