In
2004 one of our members arranged for our society to visit
one of the longest established private railways in the
country. The 9" Torry Hill Railway is situated in
the heart of Kent and is NOT open for general visitors.
With its origins back in the 1930's it would have been
typical of the numerous miniature railways that were so
popular on large private estates throughout the country.
Hopefully the following pictures convey some of the
pleasure we gained from a trip on this delightful railway
which is a credit to its owners and operators. Sadly,
nothing on this website can give a true indication of the
excitement (polite version) of that first trip through
the 100' long, curving, pitch dark tunnel..........
